This month, don’t miss the world debut of Taylor McFerrin performing with his ten-time GRAMMY award winning father, Bobby McFerrin at Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge.

Well known for this popular hit, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” Bobby McFerrin has blurred the lines between pop music and fine arts, inspiring a whole new generation of a cappella singers and the beatbox movement. Born in a family of singers, Bobby McFerrin spent his childhood learning music from his father, the Metropolitan Opera baritone Robert McFerrin Sr., and mother, Sara McFerrin, a fine soprano soloist and voice teacher. His music features a unique combination of pop, R&B, classical and world music – sometimes all in the same song!

The Los Angeles Times states, “Bobby Mcferrin’s greatest gift to his audience may be changing them from spectators into celebrants and transforming a concert hall into a playground, a village center, a joyous space.”  Taylor McFerrin just released his first debut album, Early Riser in June 2014.  His musical style is influenced by the legends of the 60’s/70’s, the kings of the Modern Beat Generation, Golden Era hip hop, free form jazz and electronic music.  He masterfully combines all of his influences into what the Los Angeles Times calls a “silver of intricate, sun-dappled, jazz-soaked electronica”.  This will be the only performance on Bobby’s 2016 tour to feature his son, Taylor McFerrin.

Valley Performing Arts Center is located at 18111 Nordhoff Street in Northridge (on the campus of CSUN, California State University). For more details on the show tickets, click here.
